Red Cross Training

The Vineyard Community Center and the American Red Cross are working together to provide the surrounding community the opportunity to take classes closer to home. Class fees vary, depending upon the class. Classes are scheduled through the American Red Cross, but are held in the Community Center. To register, call 1-800-REDCROSS, Option #5 or http://classes.redcrosscolumbus.org

Adult CPR classes will be offered at Vineyard Community Center on:

  • Thursday, February 16, 9am-12pm
  • Wednesday, April 18, 9am-12pm  


Red Cross Blood Drive

Vineyard Community Center will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drives on Sunday, February 5, from 8am to 2pm and in the South parking lot at Vineyard Columbus. Babysitter's Training Course

This Babysitter's Training course gives 11 to 15 year olds the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.  Through hands-on activities, interactive video and lively discussions, the course teaches young people how to:
  • Care for children and infants
  • Be good leaders and role models
  • Make good decisions and solve problems
  • Keep the children they babysit and themselves safe
  • Handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents
  • Write resumes and interview for jobs
Students will receive materials that are useful both during the course and on the job, including a handbook packed with information and full-color skill sheets, a compact emergency reference guide and an interactive CD-ROM featuring an activity booklet with games, songs, recipes and other activities, an electronic babysitting client organizer and much more!
This 3-week course will be offered:
  • Fridays, March 16 through March 30, 6-8:30pm at Vineyard Community Center

Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a ministry supported by men who desire to serve families in our community who need help with minor repairs and upkeep around their homes. These families are usually made up of single-parent homes, the elderly or those who cannot afford to pay for the repairs on their own. Most jobs are completed on Saturday mornings between 9am-12pm.   • Storm Window installation/Removal
  • Small Moving Projects

  • Minor Toilet Repair

Unplanned Pregnancy Assistance

This is designed to offer support to women who are currently experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. We offer a mentoring program for women in crisis who desire to connect with another woman who can provide support through relationship and practical resources. This program is called Motherheart Mentoring. Our mentors are caring women who desire to come alongside women in unplanned pregnancies to provide friendship, guidance and assistance in obtaining practical resources, such as baby items and maternity clothing. Abortion Trauma Group (HEART)

This is a support group for women who have previously experienced the pain of abortion.  We believe we are to be part of the healing process that takes place when a woman, who has experienced an abortion, is faced with the pain and grief of the choice she has made.  We offer a support group called HEART, Healing the Effects of Abortion-Related Trauma, in which this healing can begin.  This is a 7-week closed, confidential group.  For details on upcoming groups, contact Deanie Dodge, 614.451.7725.

The Ohio Benefit Bank

The Ohio Benefit Bank is a web-based computer program designed to connect low and moderate income Ohioans with access to public benefits, such as food stamps, Medicaid, income tax assistance, and other programs. For an appointment with a Vineyard Community Center counselor, please leave a voice mail message with the phone number where you can best be reached and your available days and times at 614.259.5352 (press # after leaving your message). The counselor will contact you with an appointment.
 

 

Computer Repair & Advice 

Having issues with your Desktop or Laptop?  Are you frustrated when your computer constantly locks up or freezes?  Have questions about computer technology in general and don't know where to turn?  Make an appointment to have your computer diagnosed and/or repaired and have your questions answered!  PLEASE NOTE:  Computer repair may take longer than meeting time.  Special arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis.  For an appointment, contact Clayton Jones, clayton006@gmail.com, 614.423.9584.
 

Counseling

Low-cost professional Christian counseling for those who do not have the ability to pay the regular rate.  Services are available for couples' therapy, pre-marital issues, marital struggles, families and individuals.  Sessions are by appointment only.  To make an appointment, (for men and couples) email Walt Poupart, wpoupart@gmail.com.  Women should email Toni King at tking56007@aol.comNOTE: Vineyard Columbus members and attendees should contact Vineyard Counseling Center, 614.890.0000.
 

Immigration Counseling Services

Immigration Counseling Services provides low-cost legal aid for those who need advice, have questions or want assistance with the immigration process.  Guests meet with an accredited Immigration Representative to discuss their case and receive honest counsel for the next steps forward.  We may provide assistance for a variety of cases, including: family-based petitions, citizenship applications, green card applications, consular processing and other correspondences with Immigration.  Guests are asked to bring all relevant immigration documents to their appointment so we may best help them; all information is kept confidential.  Consultations are provided in English or Spanish.  Initial consultations are $30 and are offered in the Community Center every Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and every Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm.  Guests are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.   For questions or more information, contact Kyla Snow at kyla.snow@vineyardcolumbus.org or 614-259-5322. Income Tax Preparation

Free Federal and State Income Tax preparation for individuals (no business or self-employed) by appointment only, beginning February 6 through the end of March.  Please bring 2010 tax returns and appropriate 2011 paperwork (W-2's, receipts).  For an appointment, contact Donna at donna_kuhn@juno.com or call 614-259-5500.  No charge for paper copies of your returns for you to mail.
